Marine Film Services Ltd has worked in the film industry for over 25 years and the key to our success has been good effective marine co-ordination.

Every job has an element of marine coordination from risk assessments to location recce’s. We have worked on some of the biggest productions requiring more extensive research, preparation, sourcing, passage planning, and complicated logistics. Our team has many years of experience including second unit directing so have an in-depth knowledge of the filming process and what is required. Our highly qualified team includes ex-military personnel and specialists instructors in various marine disciplines including diving, sailing, power boating, rowing, paddling and punting.

Experience counts when filming with water and Richard Carless who is the owner of Marine Film Services Ltd has been a marine coordinator for over 35 years with an established record. The family’s history of boat building dates back over 300 years. From racing mirror dinghy’s as a young lad he moved into sailing yachts and ocean racing while studying boatyard management at college. A move onto the Thames saw a career in piling and dredging and time spent as a tug skipper as well as achieving international lightweight rowing status and becoming world punting champion! Richard is still actively involved in skiffing, punting, rowing and sailing and currently holds four world record entries in the Guinness book for long distance rowing as well as being the current punting champion.
